96FM is a commercial FM station broadcasting from Perth, Western Australia. Its frequency is 96.1 MHz, and its official call sign is 6NOW.
It has been owned by the Australian Radio Network (ARN) since January 2015, although it was previously owned by Fairfax Media and Village Roadshow.
It began broadcasting on August 8, 1980, becoming Perth’s first commercial FM station. The first song played was Steely Dan’s “FM (No Static at All),” with Gordon O’Byrne as the first live host.
96FM focuses on upbeat, classic rock, with a slogan that is now “Better Music and More of It.”
