KIIS 106.5 radio – from Sydney

KIIS 106.5 is one of Sydney, Australia’s most iconic radio stations. Listen here for the latest contemporary hits and read here some of its history.

It’s the flagship station of the Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) KIIS Network, though it began as 2UW on February 13, 1925, on AM radio, and has undergone several frequency changes throughout its history.

A bit of its history.

Although it’s a pop icon today, KIIS was born in 1925 as 2UW. In 1994, it jumped to FM as Mix 106.5, with a different format: Adult Contemporary.

The turning point for radio in Australia came in January 2014.

The ARN (Australian Radio Network) decided to “kill” the Mix brand and relaunch it as KIIS 106.5.

The masterstroke was hiring star DJs from its most direct competitor. Bingo was an instant hit that took them to number one on the charts.

KIIS 106.5 is now a Hot Adult Contemporary (Hot AC) station, focused on top 40 hits, pop, and songs from the ’80s, ’90s, and today.
