Triple J Perth – rock alternativo

Come listen to Triple J Perth, Australia’s famous radio station, with schedules tailored to this city, where the DJs are fun, and where coolness comes in.

Triple J is the station that defines what’s “cool” in Australia. Unlike the commercial stations we’ve seen, Triple J is part of the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), the public broadcaster, which gives them complete creative freedom because they aren’t dependent on advertising.

Although it’s a national network, Triple J’s vibe in Brisbane carries special weight because of the city’s huge alternative music scene.

A little bit of its history

Triple J was born in 1975 as 2JJ in Sydney. It was created to be the voice of young people who didn’t identify with the mainstream, “suit and tie” radio stations.

Its first song played was “You Just Like Me ‘Cos I’m Good In Bed” by Skyhooks, which was banned from other stations. Since then, its mission has been to break the rules.

In the 90s, it expanded nationwide, including Brisbane, becoming the primary filter for bands to go from garage rock to national success.
