Music from the 70s and 80s – 101.1 The Eagle

101.1 The Eagle: Classic Hits in Chattanooga. Listen to Queen, Journey, and ABBA on our live player. 70s-80s nostalgia from Tennessee!

This is WDNT-FM (licensed in Dayton, Tennessee, but with a strong reach in the Chattanooga metro area and parts of North Georgia). It’s owned by the Eagle Radio Network and focuses on classic hits with a retro feel.

A Little History

WDNT-FM went on the air in 1978 as an extension of AM station 1280 WDNT, which had been operating since the 1950s in Dayton (about 25 miles from Chattanooga). Initially, it was a local station with general programming for the rural community of Rhea County, simulcasting the AM station during the daytime.

In the 1990s, under the influence of the Eagle Radio Network (founded by local veterans), it adopted the branding “101.1 The Eagle” and shifted toward oldies and classic hits formats to attract Chattanooga listeners, expanding its power to 25,000 watts to better cover the market.

Today, it is part of a network that includes other frequencies in Tennessee, maintaining a local focus in a market dominated by giants like iHeartMedia.

Su contenido.

101.1 The Eagle is all classic hits, with an emphasis on the best of the ’70s, ’80s, and a smattering of ’90s: pop-rock, disco, new wave, and era-defining ballads. Its playlist includes icons like The Eagles (obviously, because of the name!), Queen, ABBA, Journey, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, and Phil Collins—all with that feel-good vibe for road trips through the Smoky Mountains or afternoons in Chattanooga.
